  • Joanie (Jojo) Chang
    Elementary, Middle School Specialist
    M.A. California State University
    B.Ed. Brigham Young University–Hawai'i
    With over 20 years of experience in the education field, Mrs. Chang has taught preschool through college at various places around the United States, including Hale Kula Elementary, Christa McAuliffe Academy, Maui Ocean Academy, Brigham Young University–Hawai'i, and Bright Beginning Learning Center. She enjoys the academic pursuit of helping students build important lifelong skills in reading and writing as well as the fitness pursuit of training athletes in competitive swimming. As a coach, she has trained hundreds of swimmers in the Ko‘olauloa area of O‘ahu. She believes that building a strong foundation is important for success in both academics and athletics. In her free time, Mrs. Chang loves swimming in the aqua blue ocean, wandering around planet earth on a sailboat, and reading books that encourage her deep belief in God. She is excited to work with many of APIS’s students.

  • Kim Cassidy
    Counselor, Secondary Mathematics
    M.A.T. New York University
    B.S. in Biology from The College of Charleston
    Ms. Kim graduated from The College of Charleston with a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She then graduated from NYU with a Master of Art in Teaching. Over her 20 year teaching career, Ms. Kim has taught all levels of math from 5th grade through Calculus, as well as Chemistry, Biology and various science electives. She believes strongly in the power of progressive education and empowering student autonomy. Outside of the classroom, Ms. Kim has experience coaching basketball, track and field, and cross country. She moved to Oahu from NYC three years ago to follow her and her family’s dream of a slower life by the ocean. She enjoys spending time at the beach, hiking, and just enjoying being outside and all that Hawaii has to offer.

  • Heather De Boer
    Business Operations Manager
    B.S. Liberty University
    Ms. De Boer graduated from Liberty University with a bachelor’s degree is Business Administration with a cognate in Human Resources Management. While at university, Ms. De Boer gained experience in Human Resources and Project Management, balancing two seasonal jobs throughout the four years. While also working, she volunteered as a Resident Shepherd and Commuter Shepherd, ministering to the students on her hall as well as the students off campus, forming deep, faith-based relationships, encouraging community and spiritual growth for her peers. On her summers off, Ms. De Boer served as a camp counselor at Camp Homelani in Waialua, HI. Her summers here fostered her passions for children’s ministry, being a strong Christ like example of faith for them and encouraging their own spiritual growth. Ms. De Boer is excited to combine her administrative knowledge and love for student ministry here as APIS is looking forward to following the Lords calling for her life. She believes that a strong Christian community allows for people to grow and flourish into the person the Lord has called them to be. In her free time, she loves to adventure outdoors, especially hike, surf play spikeball and pickle ball, and she loves to travel to new places around the world!
